Ralph G. “Ty” Eslinger, 73, of Elyria, died February 22, 2022 at his home. He was born September 11, 1948 in Elyria and was a 1966 graduate of Elyria High School. In 1971 he received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State University and in 1977 a masters of science in mechanical engineering from The University of Akron. From 1971 to 1996, he was employed at Bendix Corporation, Elyria and developed 3 patents for heavy vehicle air brake systems. He then worked for Meritor WABCO in Troy, MI retiring in 2001. Ty was a lifelong hunter and fisherman, an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes and also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Ty is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dorothy J. (nee Newton); daughter, Nova Buchanan of Hudson; grandchildren, Zivana, Skyler, Brynn and Graham and a cousin, Gayle (Bob) Donelson of Amherst. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Clara Eslinger. Friends will be received Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 10:00 am until the time of a noon service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Burial for the family will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
