Raymond A LeGrand's Obituary
Raymond LeGrand Obituary
Raymond A LeGrand, 89, a resident of Kendal at Oberlin, passed away January 27, 2020 after a long and well-traveled life. He was born July 22, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pa. and graduated from Hiram College and awarded his EdD from Case Western University. He taught at John Carroll University from 1965 to 1990 and was awarded Professor Emeritus in 2001. He lived a significant portion of his life in Willoughby Hills, Ohio and Naples, Florida. Ray had a dream to build a working farm and did so, until he found the white sand beaches of Naples. He enjoyed his dog and late life companion, Jefferson, international travel, The Cleveland Orchestra, gardening, weaving, Shakespeare, and loved and missed Joan deeply. Ray is survived by his children, Denise LeGrand (Ron Landreth) of Little Rock, Arkansas and David LeGrand (Kathleen) of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; grandchildren, Christopher and Bruce Schilling and Emily LeGrand; and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Joan Dort LeGrand in 2001. It was Raymond’s wishes not to have a service or make a fuss. In lieu of flowers, Raymond suggested a donation to the Friendship Animal Protective League of Lorain County, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035 (https://friendshipapl.org/donate-online/), where Jefferson came from.
