Raymond Edwards Obituary
Raymond E. Edwards, 77, of Elyria, died Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Sandys Adult Care Center in Lorain. He was born November 23, 1933 in Nufflin Twp., OH, graduated from Lorain High School in 1953 and has lived in Elyria most of his life. He was formerly employed at B.F. Goodrich Chemical in Avon Lake for 40 years, retiring in 1993. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, member of St. Jude Church, United polish Club, Oberlin Golf Club and enjoyed exercising at LCCC Fitness Center, gardening, traveling, playing golf and spending time with his 4 granddaughters. Ray is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marie A. (nee Corrao) of Elyria; son Ron Edwards of Elyria; daughters Karen Smith of Elyria and Brenda Edwards of Arlington, TX; granddaughters Lauren, Nicole, Kaylie and Jessica; a sister Harriet Mate of Amherst, brother Harold Edwards of Port St. Lucie, FL and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Eldon and Esther Edwards and brothers Eldon, Robert, Donald and Francis Edwards. Friends will be received Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. Closing payers will be said 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria, OH with Reverend Frank P. Kosem as the celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain and memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Parkinson Foundation, North East Region, P.O.
