Raymond L. Shreffler, II, age 50, of Elyria, died Sunday, December 22, 2013 at EMH Healthcare after a two year illness.He was born April 14, 1963 in Greenville, PA and has lived most of his life in Elyria. Ray was a 1981 graduate of Elyria High School and attended Ohio Northern University, Ada, OH. He was employed as an engineer with Windstream Communications in Hudson, OH and enjoyed camping, grilling out with family and he was a season ticket holder for the Cleveland Browns. Ray also enjoyed the Cleveland Indians, music, especially the blues and collecting sports memorabilia and was a member of Elyria Elks Lodge #465. Ray was a loving and caring father; a cared for son and an admired brother.He is survived by daughters Kelsey Paige Shreffler and Abbey Dalton Shreffler, son Raymond L. Shreffler, III and grandson Ethan Ray Shreffler, all of Elyria; mother Bessie E. Myers of Grafton; sisters Jerri Barnes (nee Shreffler), Wendy (Brad) Behrens, both of Elyria and Darcy (Bruce Stephenson) Rogers of Grafton; brother Ralph (Jennifer) Reed of Avon; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his father Raymond L. Shreffler in 1964 and infant sister Deidre Lorraine Shreffler.Family will receive friends Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. A graveside service will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elyria Salvation Army, 716 Broad St., Elyria, OH 44035.
