Richard A. Shuey, Sr., 85, of Olmsted Township and formerly of North Ridgeville, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at EMH Healthcare Avon.He was born December 29, 1925 in Greensburg, PA, where he was a 50 year resident and served as a captain with the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department. Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the Asian Pacific Theater.He was employed as an inspector at the General Motors Plant in Parma for 25 years, retiring in 1988. Other interests included fishing, hunting and bowling.Richard is survived by sons Wayne W. of Columbus, James B. of North Ridgeville, Arthur L. of Bryan, Russell E. of Olmsted Twp. and Douglas A. of Forney, Texas; fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jean L. in 2006; son Richard A. Jr. in 2010; brothers Paul E. and Lewis C.; sisters Sarah and Eleanor and parents William and Margaret Shuey.Friends will be received Friday, December 23, 2011 from 1 p.m. until the time of a 3:00 p.m. funeral service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria.
