Richard C. Henes, Sr., 87, of Elyria, died December 28, 2014 at his home.He was born November 17, 1927 in Elyria Township and was a graduate of Elyria High School. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and Korea.Richard was employed for 20 years at the Chrysler Parts Depot in Solon, OH, retiring in 1989.Sharing the value of hard work with his family and spending time at his home with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, were important to Richard. He enjoyed his dogs, camping, fishing, walking and gardening.Richard is survived by sons Richard (Mary) Henes, Jr. of Elyria and Dave (Shirley) Ellison of Columbus; daughters Clara Kay Henes of Rochester, OH and Reva Ellison and a daughter-in-law Sue Ellison of Elyria; 14 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and sisters Wilma Ellison, Wanda Wilson and Janet Sakal.He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Emma Lou Henes July 17, 2014; son Steve Ellison in 2009 and parents Walter and Eunice Henes.Friends will be received Friday, January 2, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria.A service will be Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Reverend Rick Stein, pastor of First United Presbyterian Church, Elyria will officiate. Elyria V.F.W. #1079 will present military honors.
