Richard "Rich" Douglas Defibaugh's Obituary
Richard Defibaugh Obituary
Our brother Richard “Rich” Douglas Defibaugh, of Elyria, passed away the morning of October 23, 2022 after a long battle with various health conditions. He was 51 years old and a graduate of the former Southview High School in Lorain. Rich can best be described as a jovial guy, well liked among his friends, coworkers, and greater community. This is most evident when considering the number long-lasting friendships that he had maintained throughout his life, some of which dating as far back as early childhood. He enjoyed professional baseball, a passion he shared with his mother, possessed a genuine green thumb in growing his own vegetables (he was especially talented in producing a wide variety of peppers) and tinkering with small engines. Prior to being limited by his deteriorating health, Rich was an avid fisherman of Lake Erie and the local rivers and was fond of biking the North Coast Inland Trail. Above all else, Rich always enjoyed the company of his friends and family. He is survived by his sisters, Donna Ramirez (nee Defibaugh) and Linda Ball (nee Defibaugh), both of Elyria; brothers, Alan Defibaugh of Wheeling West Virginia and Eric Defibaugh (Judy) of North Ridgeville; and a great many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his mother, Bunice Defibaugh (nee Swindle); father Elmer Defibaugh; sister Ellen Wright (nee Defibaugh) and a brother Robert Defibaugh, all of which are no doubt rejoicing in being reunited with their beloved Rich and his hearty laugh.
