Richard Zahniser Obituary
Richard D. Zahniser, 75, of Elyria, died December 3, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.Born May 10, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, he was a graduate of John Marshall High School in Cleveland. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio State University and served in the Air Force National Guard. He moved to Elyria from Vermilion Township in 1972 and for 20 years, Richard was employed at Precision Machined Products Association (PMPA), Brecksville, OH, retiring as Technical Director in 2005. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir and had enjoyed traveling with his wife Katy to Colorado and Utah.Richard is survived by sons, David A. (Tammy Da Costa Gomez) Zahniser of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA and Paul M. (Kristina) Zahniser of Dublin, OH; daughter, Mary Z. (Kevin) Bowman of Fort Collins, Colorado and grandchildren, Spencer, Katy, Nicholas, Liam and Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Kathryn L. Katy Zahniser (nee: Foreman) in 2005 and parents, Theodore and Stella Zahniser.Friends will be received Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A service will be Monday, December 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Roger G. Talbott officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 312 Third St., Elyria, OH 44035 or the Elyria Salvation Army, 716 Broad Street, Elyria, OH 44035.
