Rita R. Otten (nee West), 87, a lifelong resident of Elyria, died January 9, 2017 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.She was born January 26, 1929 in Elyria and was a 1947 graduate of Elyria High School. Rita worked as a representative selling Avon Products before becoming a full time homemaker. She was a long time member of St. Mary Church in Elyria, Elyria Amvets Post 32, Elyria V.F.W. #1079 and Elyria United Polish Club. She was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed gardening and crafts. Rita is survived by her husband of 68 yrs., Joseph C. Otten.; sons Joe P. (Karen) Otten of Coral Springs, FL, Dennis (Cheryl) Otten of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Tim(Judy) Otten of Columbia Station, OH and Tegan (Kimberly) Otten of Clayton, NC; daughters, Sheila (John) Wilson of Elyria and Rita (Tym) Broadhead of N. Ridgeville, OH and 5 grandchildren Ashley, Olivia, Shelby, Angelica and Victoria. She was preceded in death by sister, Barb Snyder and brothers, Frank and Bill West. Private services were held by the immediate family. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH.
