Robert Tarry Obituary
Robert C. Tarry, 87, of Elyria, died September 21, 2022 in his home. He was born April 10, 1935 in Elyria and was a 1954 graduate of Elyria High School. Bob had been licensed as a real estate broker since 1961 and owned Robert Tarry Real Estate since 1967. He had also been an appraiser for the Lorain County Sheriff’s Department and worked in construction. While growing up in Elyria, Bob was a paperboy for the Chronicle Telegram and at the time of President Truman’s death was downtown yelling “Extra! Extra!” he was so proud of that. He had been a lifeguard and a competitive roller skater, winning titles at state, regional and national meets. He had been an avid golfer in his earlier years, coached little league baseball for a number of years and loved to share his knowledge of Elyria history. He loved family reunions, especially the years raising his family on Pinewood Drive in Elyria. Other interests included spending time with family and traveling. Bob was a life member of Elyria Elks #465, First Congregational United Church of Christ, a former member of Lorain County Historical Society, Elyria morning and evening Kiwanis Clubs. Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sherry L. (nee Warren); children, Robert Tarry, Jr., Brad (Theresa) Tarry and Lynette (Vic) Stewart; grandchildren, Emily Marroso, Robert Tarry III, Elizabeth Brock, Anna Tarry, Rebecca and Sarah Tarry and Victor IV, Dylan and Brodie Stewart; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Thomas Marroso, Parker Tarry, Ariya Stewart and Addison Brock; and sisters, Geraldine Haas, Yvonne Green, Shirley Bathurst, Judy Tarry and Jane McCrea. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Lottie Tarry; and siblings, Donovan, Richard, Douglas and Terry Tarry, Lois Gulette, Pat Thomas, Jackie Schriner, Linda Tarry and Sandy Kendall. Friends will be received Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Monday, September 26, 2022 from 11:00 am until the time of a 1:00 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Revered Kathryn Ketchum will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035. There are no gallery images.
