Robert J. Miller, Sr., 77, a resident of Elyria most of his life, died unexpectedly May 20, 2022. He was born January 20, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA and was a 1963 graduate of Elyria High School. For 18 years, Bob was employed at Bendix Corporation. He made a 35 year career driving trucks and most recently was the owner and operator of Robert J. Miller Trucking. Bob is a member of Elyria VFW #1079, Elyria Moose Lodge #778, Elyria United Polish Club and the American Legion Post #12. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, following the Cleveland Cavaliers, boating, and visiting the islands of Lake Erie. He loved horses and formerly owned stables in North Ridgeville and participated in barrel racing. Bob is survived by his children, Robert J. Miller, Jr. of Sheffield Village, Thomas (Krysh) Miller of Wellington and Diana (Mike) Beetler of Oberlin; longtime companion, Marilyn “Marti” Downs of Grafton; grandchildren, Zoe and Chase Beetler, Nicholas and Olivia Miller, and Justin and Austin Jones; sister, Joanne Sprowls of Middletown and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Theresa Miller. Bob wished to have a private funeral. There will be a Celebration of Life July 10, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at VFW Post 1079, 500 South Abbe Road, Elyria.
