Robert Joseph Repas, Jr.Robert Joseph Repas, Jr., age 65, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. Bob was born on January 31, 1953 in Elyria to Robert and Bonnie Repas (nee Suhy).Bob attended Elyria High School, class of 1971. He graduated from the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK, earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Lorain County Community College, and a Bachelor of Science from Cleveland State University.Upon graduation from Spartan, Bob joined their staff to teach avionics. He shared his life-long passion for technology by teaching electronics, industrial controls, and instrumentation systems for eighteen years at the Nord Advanced Technologies Center of Lorain County Community College. He was also an author and editor for Machine Design magazine. Most recently, Bob was employed as an electrical engineer at Quest Corporation in North Royalton.Bob’s interest in radio control aircraft led him to become a private pilot at an early age. He joined the Experimental Aircraft Association, built a homemade gyro-copter and attended several fly-ins to Oshkosh. Bob was also an amateur/ham radio operator who helped build a radio repeater system for the Lorain County Amateur Radio Association. Bob enjoyed going to the movies, especially science fiction or fantasy. He had an affinity for dolphins and was a member of the furry fandom community.Bob is survived by his life partner Suzanne Barth, his mother Bonnie Repas, his sister Laura (William) Leitner, his brother Robin (Sherry) Repas, all of Elyria, his sister Lee (Richard) Underman of Westerville, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert, Sr. Bob’s family gathered together to reminisce about his life. No funeral service or visitation is planned. Final arrangements are entrusted to Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elyria.
