Robert L. CourtRobert L. Court, 74, of Vermilion and formerly of Elyria passed away peacefully August 27, 2018. He was born July 30, 1944 in Paducah, KY and moved to Elyria as a small child. Bob was a 1962 graduate of Elyria High School and attended The Ohio State University. He began his working career at Cascade Park for the Elyria Parks Department. He was then employed as a manager at Zayres Department Store and as a shipping supervisor at US Steel, Lorain. In 1984 he moved to Florida where he worked in insurance sales. After returning to Elyria in 1991 he owned R.L. Court Construction. From 2002-2006 Bob was Commander of S.A.L. Post 12, Elyria and a member of AmVets Post 22, Vermilion. He was a former member of Elyria Elks Lodge # 465 and Knights of Columbus. He was also a former member of Lake Avenue UCC, First Congregational UCC, Pilgrim UCC & St. Paul UCC. Bob was an avid Cleveland Indians, Browns, Cavs and Ohio State University fan. He also enjoyed karaoke and boating.Bob is survived by children, Sean (Mary Ann) Court of Elyria, Amy Court of Chillicothe and Stacy (David) Dennis of Vermilion; grandchildren, Colby, Joshua, Dakota, Destiny, Megan and Max; great granddaughter, Sierra; siblings, Tim (Diane) Court of Columbus and Cindy (Greg) Bonafield of Elyria; aunts, Norma Sayers and Gladys Fharney and cousins. He is also survived by his companion and caregiver of twenty eight years, Kathleen Standen and extended family, Michael, Mark and Matt Standen; ten grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Frances Court and a granddaughter, Madison Walker.Friends will be received Wednesday August 29, 2018 from 4:00 PM until the time of a 6:00 PM service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elyria. Pastor Ryan Hurd of A Fresh Wind Church, Amherst will officiate. Burial will be private in Brookdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
