Robert Lee Smitley, 77, died December 8, 2020 at Continuing Healthcare of Milan, Milan, Ohio. He was born November 13, 1943 in Barnhill, Ohio where he grew up. Bob was a graduate of Midvale High School, Midvale, Ohio and Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. During The Vietnam War, Bob served with The United States Air Force stationed in Africa. Bob is survived by a brother, Walter J. (Kay) Smitley of Barnhill; sisters, Norma J. (Jim) Bucher of Dover and Joanne L. (Gary) Pressnell of Elyria; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Smitley in 2005 and Mary Jane Smitley (nee Horner) in 1994. A graveside service will be Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens, Dover, Ohio with Reverend June Hardy Dorsey officiating. New Philadelphia VFW Post 1445 Honor Guard will present military honors.
