Robert L. Thompson, 75, of Elyria, stepped into glory to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ May 4, 2013 at Center Ridge Health Campus in North Ridgeville.He was born January 26, 1938 in Wilkinsburg, PA, was a 1955 graduate of Swissvale High School and served with the U.S. Army. He received a bachelor degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a masters degree and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Toledo. Bob was employed for 33 years at NASA Lewis Research Center in Cleveland as senior research scientist and then as a division manager, retiring in May of 1994.He was a member and former elder and clerk of session at First United Presbyterian Church, Elyria. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Loretta M. (nee Boyle); daughters Terri L. (Ed) Wransky of Grafton and Robin L. (Keith) Cooper of Chester, VA; grandchildren Lauren and Michael Wransky and Keith Cooper, Jr.; brothers, William Thompson of Sun City Center, FL and Dale Thompson of Ft. Myers, FLHe was preceded in death by a daughter Tracey Cardelle in 1999; brother Gary Thompson in 2006; parents Lloyd and Alice Thompson and an uncle, Harry Lafferty.Friends will be received Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of a 12:30 p.m. service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria.
