Robert James Jim Reichard, 58, passed away peacefully July 1, 2015 at his residence in Old Town, FL.He was born May 25, 1957 in Elyria and was a 1975 graduate of Elyria High School. From 1975 to 1981, he served with the U.S. Navy, specializing in classified communications. His tour of duty included San Diego, Hawaii, Midway Island and Scotland. After achieving the rank of E-5, Jim received his honorable discharge and worked in communications at the Naval Communications Center in Cleveland. Upon moving to Florida, he completed his certification as a computer analyst, working as a programmer for several companies. Jim loved music, played clarinet, piano, guitar and sang karaoke. Other interests included riding his motorcycle, skydiving and he had also earned a black belt in karate. He organized fundraisers for charity, toured Australia on his bicycle and raised rare animals, which he used for educating elementary students at local schools.Jim is survived by his mother Lois L. Reichard of Elyria; and siblings Lynne Hreha of Eaton Township, Gail (Kent) Sommer of Vermilion and Steve (Vicki) Reichard of North Ridgeville.He was preceded in death by his father Robert H. Reichard in 2013.A celebration of Jims life will be held in Florida by his friends, followed by a private family memorial service at a later date.Local arrangements are in the care of Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Elyria.
