Ronald S. Long, Sr., 84, of Elyria Township, was reunited with his loving wife, Joyce, January 7, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born October 6, 1936 in Lorain. Ron was a long time employee at Ford Motor Company, Avon Lake, retiring in 2002. He was an antique car enthusiast and enjoyed attending car shows for which he received numerous awards. You could find him tinkering in his garage, caring for his yard, woodworking and restoring items in need of repair. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Elyria. Ron is survived by children, Ronald S. Long, Jr. of Elyria, Peggy S. Wilson of Amherst, Richard D. (Julie) Long of Elyria, Pamela J. (Hal) Marquardt of Elyria, Russell A. (Robin) Long of Elyria and Penny M. (Edward) Spurlock of Prospect, Ohio; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Joyce in 2003; parents, William and Gladys Long; brothers, Robert, Wayne and Dennis Long; and a sister, Kaye Rollins. Friends will be received Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Friends will also be received Friday, January 15, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of an 11:00 am service at St. John Lutheran Church, 1140 West River Road North, Elyria. Pastor Bill Mugnolo will officiate. Private burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery at a later date.
