Rose M. Zaffer (nee: Stec)Rose M. Zaffer (nee: Stec), 97, of Elyria, died, peacefully April 13, 2018 surrounded by her family at Life Care Center of Elyria. She was born January 29, 1921 in Lorain and had also lived in South Amherst before moving to Elyria. In 1952 Rose and her husband, Gus opened the Hilltop House Restaurant on East Bridge Street in Elyria which they operated until closing in 1981. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and gardening.Rose is survived sons, John G., Thomas D. (Carolyn) both of Elyria and William N. of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Christina (Justin) Branham and Teresa (Gary) Walker; great grandchildren, Tyler, Alivia, Dylan, Evan and Olivia and sisters, Katherine Dany, Bertha Fobell and Helen Jankowski.She was preceded in death by her husband Gus in 1994; son, Christopher in 1999 and a grandson, Eric in 2015. Also preceding her in death were parents, Stanley and Katie Stec; brothers, Ludwig and Stanley and sisters, Victoria, Mary, Irene and Beatrice.
