Ruby Jean Jones (nee Combs), 79, of Elyria, died July 6, 2023 in her home. She was born May 1, 1944 in Hazard, KY and has been a resident of Elyria since 1951. Ruby was a graduate of Elyria High School and former 25-year owner of Wood-N-Things, a floral and gift shop on 4th Street in Elyria. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Elyria. Ruby is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles W.; daughter, Denise (Don) Brackenhoff of Lorain; son, Stephen (Kimberly) Jones of Elyria; grandchildren, Jacob Jones and Matthew and Sarah Brackenhoff; brother, David Combs of Elyria and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Ezekiel Combs; mother, Ora G. Clark; brother, Clyde Combs and sisters, Sarah Brink, Aileen Richie, Alice Fiedler, Clara Mason and Irene Weubker. Friends will be received Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at noon in the funeral home with Reverend Jeffrey Smith officiating. Private burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
