Ruth Ellen Blank (nee: Hanger)Ruth Ellen Blank (née: Hanger), 94, a long-time resident at Wesleyan Village in Elyria passed from this life on November 10, 2017.Ruth, a daughter of Ralph John and Florence May Hanger of Cleveland Heights, was married for 55 years to Rev. Thomas E. Blank, who passed away in 2000. Ruth attended public schools in Cleveland Heights and was a 1946 graduate of Cleveland College at Western Reserve University, with a B.S. majoring in Nutrition. Ruth and Tom had five children: David (Bonnie) of Westlake, Ohio; Chuck (Pam) of Middlesboro, Kentucky; Kathy Williams (Kirk), of Fishers, Indiana; Barbara Brewster (Edward) of North Olmsted, Ohio, and Thomas “Rick” (Karen) of Adamstown, Maryland. She had nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.Ruth was lifelong volunteer in her church work and at Wesleyan Village, where she received the 2012 Marion Mossa Spirit Award. She served as a Stephen Minister. Ruth volunteered as the Lead Nutritionist for Lorain County Head Start in the 1980s. She was a life-long prolific and award-winning knitter and a dedicated church pianist, and an avid reader.
