Ruth I. Callihan, 88, of Elyria, loving wife, mother, grandmother, loyal friend and homemaker extraordinaire, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord June 11, 2015 while in the care of Mercy New Life Hospice.She was born Ruth I. Fehrman September 5, 1926 in Byesville, OH, the third eldest in a family of ten. She was a 1944 graduate and class president of Byesville High School. As a 46 year member of First United Methodist Church, Elyria, she was also proud to be a third generation Methodist. Ruth was an avid bridge player and enjoyed reading books. She was a 60 year member of Elyria Country Club and in her earlier years, enjoyed playing golf.Ruth is survived by her husband of 69 years, James M. Jim Callihan; daughter Linda (Ed) Leary of Loveland, CO; granddaughter Jennifer Leary and great grandson Marley, both of Oakland, CA; brothers Kenneth (Meredith) Fehrman of Newark, OH and Ron (Judy) Fehrman of Byesville, OH; sister Esther Canaday of Jenkins, KY; sisters in law Joan and Sondra Fehrman of Byesville and Marlene Fehrman of Westerville; brother in law Reverend Dr. Noel Liddle of Miami Shores, FL and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents Delbert and Zerelda (nee Poland) Fehrman; brothers Russell, Robert, Ralph, Raymond and Roy Lee Fehrman and a sister Ann Liddle.A memorial service will be Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church, 312 Third St., Elyria, OH. Reverend Roger G. Talbott and Reverend Dalton D. Love will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Trustee Fund.
