Ruth Martha CopelandRuth Martha Copeland (nee: Ostrov), 96, of Elyria, passed away December 26, 2017 at WesternReserve Masonic Community in Medina, Ohio. She was born June 3, 1921 in Romania and has been an eighty year resident of Elyria. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Northwestern University and a Masters Degree in Education from Kent State University. Ruth was a well known elementary school teacher in the Elyria City Schools along with beinga life time member of Temple B’nai Abraham. She enjoyed reading, golfing, traveling andspending time with her family and friends.Ruth is survived by a daughter Laurie Province (Bob), sonTed Copeland (Linda), grandchildren, Danielle Copeland, Adam Copeland (Katherine) and greatgrandchildren, Jane and Eleanor Copeland.She was preceded by her husband of forty two years Alfred Copeland in 1986, brothers Daniel and Robert Ostrov and parents Aaron and DoraOstrov.A funeral service will be 1:30 PM Friday December 29, 2017 at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria.The family will receive friends at The Hotel at Oberlin, 10 East College Street, Oberlin, Ohio44074 Friday December 29, 2017 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.In honor of Ruth a memorial fund has been established. Memorial contributionswill provide 8th gradestudents an opportunity to visit Washington DC. Donations may be made at gf.me/u/fujpic.
