Ruth M. Kotnik (nee Anderson), 80, of Elyria, died May 14, 2014 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.She was born March 4, 1934 in her family home in Washington County, PA and has been a resident of Elyria since 1953.She was a homemaker and attended Church of the Open Door, where she worked as a daycare provider for the Ladies Bible Study ministry.Ruth, who was affectionately known as Grandma to everyone, is survived by sons Marvin (Becky) Kotnik of Maumee, OH and Jack Kotnik of Edgewater, FL; daughters Lelia Kotnik and Jeanie Kotnik, both of Oberlin; Diana DiVirgilio of Amherst, Dorothy Clark of Lorain; 22 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister Dolly (Jim) OConnell of Steubenville, OH and a brother Bob (Karen) Anderson of Elyria.She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jack Jake Kotnik, Sr. in 2002; father Robert H. Anderson; mother Ruth G. Charnik and stepfather Walter Charnik.Friends will be received Monday, May 19, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a 6:00 p.m. service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. Pastor Rick Young of Liberty Baptist Church will officiate.
