Dorothy Edna “Sally” Smith (nee True), 72, of Elyria, died December 2, 2021. She was born May 2, 1949 in Spring City, TN and had been a long time Elyria resident. She was formerly employed as a custodian for Elyria City Schools. Sally loved God and looked forward to seeing Heaven. She attended Harvest Ridge Church in North Ridgeville. She loved and protected her family and enjoyed watching Hallmark Christmas movies and gardening. Sally is survived by a daughter, Joy (Larry) Degley of Elyria; grandchildren, Nicole Kirkendall and Danny Loy; step daughter, Jennifer (Dan) Loy of Fairview Park; siblings, Patricia (George) Matheson, Grover True both of Crossville, TN, Ricky True of Elyria and a half-brother, Donny True of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Russell L. Smith in 2017 and a grandson, Nathaniel Kirkendall in 2018. Friends will be received Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A funeral service will be Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Crow officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery.
