Scott Philo Obituary
Scott Earl Philo, 80, of Elyria, died November 22, 2019 after a lengthy battle with dementia. He was born August 11, 1939 in Cygnet, Ohio, was a 1959 graduate of Arcadia High School and a 1964 graduate of Bowling Green State University. Throughout his life, he lived in Arcadia, Bloomville, Oberlin, Wellington, Lorain and Elyria. From 1964 to the late 1970’s, Scott was an Industrial Arts teacher at Bloomville, Olmsted Falls, and Rocky River schools. He had also been employed by Hydrotube, Worthington Golf Ball and retired from Beckett Gas Inc. as a maintenance engineer in the 2000's. He enjoyed birdfeeding, gardening, and spending time in his home workshop. Scott is survived by his wife, Karen (nee Keiper) Philo; children, Shannon (Matthew) Swabb of Elyria, Shawn (Sondra) Philo of Lorain, and Stacy Morgan of Akron; step-children, Donald (JoEllen) Mitchell and Lynne Greiner, both of Elyria; half sister, Karen Gibson of Florida; four grandchildren; and many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanore (nee Cluxton) Brookman; step father, Elza Brookman; father, Herbert Philo; and former wife, Shirley (nee Bash) Philo.
