Shawn A. Carmen, 41, of Elyria, died January 2, 2012 in his home.He was born January 30, 1970 in Elyria and was a 1989 graduate of Elyria High School, where he played drums in the Elyria High School Marching Band. He had been employed at Finast, Topps and currently in the frozen food department at Giant Eagle in Avon Lake.Shawn was a pop culture memorabilia enthusiast and enjoyed traveling with friends to various pop culture events. Other interests included golf, music and movies. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed playing with his nephew.Shawn is survived by his mother Diane M. Juke of Elyria; father Larry A. (Kim) Carmen of Amherst; sisters Tracey L. Juke of Elyria, Claire A. Carmen and brother Kenny R. Carmen, both of Amherst; nephew Hayden McMillan of Elyria; aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and great grandparents.Friends will be received Friday, January 6, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. Friends will also be received Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of a noon funeral service at the funeral home.
