Shirley Heist Obituary
Shirley Jean (nee Ita) Heist, 75, of Elyria has gone home to be with our Lord Jesus. She passed away peacefully November 24, 2020 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange. She was born January 7, 1945 in Berea, Ohio and was a 1963 graduate of Bay Village High School. Shirley leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Russ and Lorrie Heist; grandchildren, Stephanie (John) Bartlett and Nick Heist; sister-in-law, Beth Stucker; nephews, Sean (Cindy) Keele, Jeff (Ellen) Stucker, Greg (Laurie) Stucker and nieces, Liza (Don) Vaughn and Dawn (Shane) Gibson. Shirley was a homemaker who co-owned a small trucking company and apartment complex with her late husband of 51 years, Linn A. Heist. She also held other jobs of service later in life. Shirley was a fun loving, energetic and adventurous lady who loved her family and friends deeply. She had a passion for animals, baking, needlepoint, model building, and crocheting. She was never afraid to get dirty and could be found working on the trucks, house, apartments or any dirty job that needed to be done. She will be missed dearly. A private graveside service with her immediate family was held at Elmhurst Park Cemetery, Avon, Ohio. Pastor Ken Tucker of Beth-el Baptist Church officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Patmos, PO Box 1920, Kelley’s Island, Ohio 43438.
