Shirley Wetz Obituary
Shirley M. Wetz, 90, of Elyria, died March 9, 2022 at O’Neill Healthcare, North Ridgeville after a brief illness. She was born July 13, 1931 in Morrow, Ohio. She moved to Elyria, where she lived from 1948-1951 and was a 1949 graduate of Elyria High School. She attended Campbell Business School in Cincinnati and graduated from Grand Rapids School of Bible And Music in 1954. For 15 years, she was employed as District Office Secretary of the American Sunday School Union in Grand Rapids. In 1977, she returned to Elyria and was employed as executive secretary at Ciba Corning in Oberlin until retiring in 1996. Shirley was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Elyria where she was an elder and an active part of the hot meals program. She was also a member and past president of Elyria Business and Professional Women’s Club and was a past regional vice president of Lake Central Region #3 of Business and Professional Women. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Olive May Wetz in 1980 and father, Roger H. Wetz in 1995. Friends will be received Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 12:30 pm until the time of a 2:00 pm service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Reverend Dr. Malcolm Peel officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Cincinnati, Ohio.
