Stephen CharleyStephen Charley, 68, of Elyria, died November 14, 2018 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Stephen was born October 3, 1950 in Harlan, Kentucky and was an Elyria resident most of his life. For twenty eight years he was employed as a crane operator at USS Steel, Lorain and for several years at Mercy Hospital, Lorain. His hobbies included fishing, cooking and gardening. Stephen is survived by children, Stephen of Lorain, Gregory, Teeyonna and Samuel of Columbus and Shicunda of Cleveland and Jamie, Wardell and Kevin, whom he loved as if they were his own and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Leroy Sr., Ivory, Brian and Leroy Charley Jr. who was raised as a brother, all of Elyria; sisters, Beverly Amerson and Molly Charley both of Elyria and Janice Smith of Oberlin and also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Josephine Charley; brothers, Samuel Tuggle and George Charley and sisters, Katie Black and Marie Evans.Friends will be received Tuesday November 20, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of a noon service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. John Cruz will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
