Stephen Zifcak Obituary
Stephen A. Zifcak, 84, of Elyria died February 9, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain. He was born August 19, 1932 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. He was a 1949 graduate of Woonsocket High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting from Hill College in Woonsocket in 1951. During the Korean War, Steve served from 1952-1955 as a sergeant in United States Marine Corps. He moved to Elyria to accept a position as an accountant at Lear Siegler Inc. He was then employed for twenty three years at National City Bank in Elyria where he was Trust Division Comptroller until 1992. He was an avid player of the violin, a watercolor artist and a dedicated reader of the newspapers, keeping up to date on current events.Steve is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Helen L. (nee: Donaldson); sons, Mark (Laura) Zifcak and Eric (Stacy) Zifcak both of Elyria and Carl (Tammy) Zifcak of Pittsfield Township; grandchildren, Taylor Russo, Brent Zifcak, Chloe and Brock Zifcak, Mathew Zifcak and Brian and Elizabeth Myers; three great grandchildren and a nephew, Gregory Zifcak.He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Mary Zifcak and brothers, Robert and Thomas Zifcak.Friends will be received Tuesday February 14, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A service will be Wednesday February 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Reverend Patrick Nicolino officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township where Elyria VFW # 1079 will present military honors.
