Sue Carol Sunagel Sue Carol Sunagel (nee: McCampbell), 87, of Elyria, died, May 22, 2018 at O’Neill Healthcare North Ridgeville. She was born July 6, 1930 in Avon Lake and was a 1949 graduate of Avon Lake High School. From 1950-1959 she was employed as a cashier at the Avon Lake Theatre and from 1982, until retiring in 1994, she was a clerk at The Lorain County Board of Elections. Carol was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and was active in First Church Women, The Outreach Board of the church and Fourthers. She had served on the Elyria Sports Hall of Fame Board of Trustees, was a past president of The Elyria Pioneer Booster Club and was past president of Windsor School PTA and an honorary lifetime member of PTA of Ohio and a member of Elyria VFW # 1079 Auxiliary. Other interests included cooking and bowling. She had twice won the local competition in the “Bowl Your Way To Europe Tournament.” In 1992 she was an Ohio Delegate to the Republican National Convention in Houston, Texas.Carol is survived by sons, Steven (Patricia) Sunagel of Amherst, Paul (Patti) Sunagel, Duane (Susan) Sunagel and Bryan (Diane) Sunagel all of Elyria; grandchildren, Jonathan and Aleecia Sunagel, Tony Hales, Erin and Blake Sunagel, Ashley Graves and Angela Stanziano and great grandchildren, Arilyne, Nevaeh and Samiah.She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty two years, Roland G. “Ron” in 2014; parents Paul and Azie McCampbell, sister, Betty Okun and a brother, John McCampbell.
