Susie M. Baker (nee Tate), 99, of Elyria, earned her wings on Monday, October 14, 2019 at home. Susie was born July 31, 1920 in Fayetteville, Tennessee, coming to Ohio in 1951. She was the youngest of four children to the late Wallace Tate and Annie Tate (nee Shelton). Susie was a homemaker who loved cooking, fishing, gardening but most of all spending time with children, grandchildren, family, friends and babysitting children throughout Lorain County. She is survived by her daughters, Jose Gordon of Arkansas, Susan Williams (Joe) of South Carolina and Regina Balls (Larry) of Elyria; son, Johnnie Baker of Oberlin; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Baker; brothers, Tom Tate, Bert Tate and Frank Tate; sister-in-law, Queen Ester Tate; daughter-in-law Ernestine Baker; son-in-law, John Gordon; grandson, Rodney Baker; great-granddaughter, Passion Gordon; niece, Elvie Biddle and nephew, Tommy Tate. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Friends will be received Monday, October 21, 2019 from 11:00 am until the time of 12:00 pm memorial service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria with Pastor Adrean Young officiating.
