Theodore Espasandin Obituary
Theodore Ted Espasandin, 92, of Elyria, died May 29, 2016 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain.He was born May 2, 1924 in Piney Fork, OH and was a graduate of Smithfield High School. He also attended West Side Institute of Technology in Cleveland and received a degree in heating and air conditioning. During World War II, Ted served with the U.S. Army Air Sea Rescue in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. From 1965 to 1989, he was a journeyman sheetmetal worker and a member of Sheet Metal Union Local 33, Vermilion. He had previously been employed by Western Automatic, Thew Shovel, Young Hardware and Ohio Sanitary Supply. He was a life member of Elyria V.F.W #1079 and a member of Parents Without Partners, Lorain County Chapter 29. Ted had been active in Little League North Baseball, Babe Ruth Baseball, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Other interests included hunting, fishing, playing BINGO and visiting casinos. Ted is survived by a daughter Bonita S. Stone of Elyria; son David (Judy) Espasandin of Grafton; grandchildren Tracy (Rodney) Brown, Marc (Michelle) Stone, Amy (Jim) Reed and Christopher Espasandin; great grandchildren Jeremy, Amanda, Joshua, Olivia, Katelyn, Marc, II, Jacklyn, Steven, Sean, Nicholas, Aundrea, Ryan, Emilly, Kyle, Brandon and Sophia; great-great grandchildren Julian, Gabriella, Anna, Austin, Tyler, Chase and Celena; brother, Manuel Espasandin; sister Delores Banal and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife Dora in 1993, father Manuel Espasandin, mother Margaret Montesino, step-mother Anna Espasandin, sister Norma Espasandin and brothers Louis and Daniel.Friends will be received Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A service will be Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Reverend Lee W. Stull and Reverend Charles E. Livermore will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria where Elyria V.F.W. #1079 will present military honors.
