Thomas B. Nelson, 64, of Elyria, died December 26, 2012 from complications of diabetes.He was born March 21, 1948 in Elyria, was a 1966 graduated of Elyria High School and attended Lorain County Community College. He was formerly employed in sales by Nick Abraham Auto Dealerships. Tom was a member and past Exalted Ruler of Elyria Elks Lodge #465. He was a fan of Ohio sports teams and enjoyed fishing and hunting.Tom is survived by sisters Kristy (Gregg) Shepherd, Karen DeLaVars and Kathie Nelson, all of Elyria; brother Steven Nelson of Amherst; son Charles (Samantha) Nelson of Newport, MI; grandchildren Emmalee and Tessa Nelson; longtime companion, Judith Gallagher of Amherst and a loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by grandchildren, Alyssa and Titus Nelson; parents Charles and Emma Nelson; maternal grandparents Conrad and Emma Goodman and paternal grandparents Thomas and Eva Nelson.Friends will be received Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of an 11:00 a.m. memorial service at St. John Lutheran Church, 1140 West River Rd., Elyria, OH 44035. Reverend James Herbolsheimer will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Thomas B. Nelson memorial Fund at any First Merit Bank branch to benefit his grandchildren.
