Thomas Barnette Obituary
Thomas L. Barnette, 78, of Elyria, passed away November 9, 2021. He was born August 15, 1943 in Mooresville, NC and moved to Cleveland in 1965. Tom was employed at Lear/Crane as a CNC machine operator for 34 years, retiring in 2008. For 30 years, he had been president of IAM Union #1849. Tom loved his children and grandchildren and did everything he could to make sure their needs were provided for. He enjoyed socializing with his many friends and was known for his 4th of July parties. Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janie Barnette (nee Perry); children, Lori Fassnacht, Thomas (Elna) Barnette and Michael (Wendy) Barnette; grandchildren, Christopher Barnette, Jennifer Barnette, Natalie Fassnacht, Emily Fassnacht and Caitlynn Barnette-Bally; siblings, B.A. Barnette and Joyce Mayhew; sister in law, Joyce Bass and niece, Kim Bass. He especially enjoyed Joyce’s cooking. He loved and was loved by many additional nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cameron and Lucille Barnette; brothers, Luther and Lewis Barnette and sisters, Evelyn Erwin and Geraldine Beaver. A celebration of his life will be at a later date. Private burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
