Timothy J. Smithett, 57, of Sheffield Lake and formerly of Elyria, died March 12, 2014 in his home. He was born October 12, 1956 in Oberlin and was a 1974 graduate of Elyria High School. He attended Ashland College, where he was a member of Phi Psi Fraternity. He was an accomplished golfer and after college,. played on the Asian Golf Tour.Tim was formerly employed with Spencer Tire and Oil Company. He is survived by a sister Alison F. (Ronald) Rau of Fort Mill, SC. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Beth Smithett in 1989; father William M. Smithett in 2001 and a brother, David M. Smithett in 2010. A memorial service will be Monday, March 31, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ; 320 Second St. Elyria with Reverend Kathryn Ketchum officiating.
