Trudy L. Schmidt (nee Burnett), 77, of Elyria, passed away peacefully January 25, 2022 at University Hospitals, Cleveland after a two month illness. She was born April 29, 1944 in Elyria and was a 1962 graduate of Midview High School. Trudy was formerly employed at Airborne Manufacturing in Elyria. She enjoyed being a homemaker, crocheting, reading and casino trips. Trudy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Paul J. Schmidt, Sr.; daughter, Shelley (Richard) Merkin; sons, Paul (Lorri) Schmidt, Jr., Kevin Schmidt and Brian (Tonya) Schmidt; grandchildren, Brandon and Kyle Merkin, Andrew and Alex Schmidt, Breana (fiancé Dennis), Drew and Griffin Schmidt; great grandchildren, Paxton, Lilah, Rhemi and Rowan and brothers, Craig and Duane (Sherilyn) Burnett. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Wanda Burnett and a brother, John Burnett. Friends will be received Monday January 31, 2022 from 11:30 AM until the time of a 1:00 PM service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend Kathryn Ketchum will officiate. Burial will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
