Utron Crook, 76, of Elyria, died May 16, 2016 in his home.He was born June 17, 1939 in Ripley, Tennessee and served from 1957 to 1961 with the United States Marine Corps. Beginning in 1963, he began his career with General Motors at Fisher Guide in Elyria and retired in 1992 as a foreman from General Motors in Trenton, NJ.He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Elyria. Utrons interests were spending time, traveling and caring for his family. He also enjoyed gardening, listening to music and social gatherings. He was a handyman and helped manage his wifes beauty shop.Utron is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice W. (nee Stewart); son Demetiris (Sheila) Crook of Elyria; granddaughter, Tana (Antonio) Stanford; great grandchildren, Taylor, Antonio, Jr. and Tyler Stanford, all of Toledo; siblings Garnetta Crook Palmer; Michael L. Crook, Vanessa Muschitz, Derwood Crook and Angela Hagard; special sister-in-law, Julia Patton James; special uncle, Dale (Thelma) Adams; special aunt Frances Parker; special friend George (Pinky) Cornell and a host of nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his mother Glennora Crook; father Edward Crook; biological father Allen Alston and brother, Lee V. Crook.Friends will be received Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. Friends will also be received Friday, May 20, 2016 from 10 a.m. until the time of an 11:00 a.m. service at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1611 Middle Ave. , Elyria. Reverend Monique Greenfield will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria where Elyria AMVETS Post 32, in conjunction with Lorain D.A.V. Chapter 20, will present military honors.
