Violet Nore Obituary
Violet E. Nore (nee Veres), 98, of Elyria, formerly of Lorain, passed away peacefully March 1, 2016 at Life Care Center of Elyria. She was born January 27, 1918 in Lorain, was a 1936 graduate of Lorain High School and has been a resident of Elyria since 1985.During World War II, Violet was a welder, who also taught welding and worked for American Shipbuilders in Lorain. She also worked in sales with the former Proy Realty in Lorain. Vi belonged to many organizations and was member of the Hungarian Reformed Church, Lorain. She volunteered over 1000 hours at St. Joseph Hospital; was founder and director of Kitchen Kuties (a band that entertained for churches, nursing homes and conventions) and she had a rare opportunity to sing with Bobby Vinton at the Lorain Palace Theater. Vi would tell of her dramatic childhood experience, the1924 tornado which hit Lorain, one of the worst tornadoes in history, and how she was carried 3 blocks before landing in a ditch.She is survived by two grandchildren; one great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loving fianc of 28 years, Sam Ristas.She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Wilbur Nore; son, Darryll Nore and two sisters.Friends will be received Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 11 to 1 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave Elyria, OH 44035. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain. Rev. Peter L. Toth, pastor of Hungarian Reformed Church, Lorain will officiate. If you so desire, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice. Sam wishes to express his thanks to the staff at Life Care Center of Elyria for the special care provided to Vi, especially nurses Dave and Cathy.
