Virginia Aden Obituary
Virginia Lorene AdenVirginia Lorene Aden (nee: Dill), 99, of Elyria, passed away peacefully June 8, 2018 while holding her granddaughter Alyssa’s hand. She was born February 18, 1919 in Huntingdon, Tennessee to Mattie Flora, the sweetest woman you’d ever meet, and James Dill, who among other talents was a maker of stills. In 1936 George Aden talked this young beauty into marrying him. He was 22, she was 17, George was a legendary figure in his day in this small town, riding the 12 miles to see his sweetheart standing on the seat of his Harley. In the 1940’s they moved to Cleveland in search of work. During her life Virginia worked in the fields, made quilts, picked cotton and tomatoes and had a beauty shop with her sister Nellie May. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, was an amazing cook and loving mother. Enchiladas were out of this world and her cake with chocolate frosting was one everybody requested. Virginia worked as an Assistant at The Holiday Inn and was an Executive Housekeeper at the Ramada Inn. She loved working at these places and was loved by her workers. She was an avid reader and a member of Sugar Ridge Baptist Church. Virginia loved a party, especially if it was for her.Virginia is survived by a son, Tom (Kathy); grandchildren, Nichole (Mark), Chet (Chrystal), Gregg (Stephanie) and Alyssa; great grandchildren, Savanna, Anthony, Spencer and Chistopher; loving friends, David Pavlak and Clint Rohrbacher and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy four years, George; her beloved son, Russ; sister, Nellie May Rich and brothers, Ray and Jimmie. In 1990 George and Virginia moved into the Historic Thomas Laundon House. They spent the rest of their lives restoring this beautiful home. For many years they enjoyed welcoming guests into their home for West by the River’s Victorian Christmas Tours. Many past and present residents of our neighborhood cherish the memories of these special times.
