Walter Keith Obituary
Walter G. Keith, 87, of Grafton, died October 10, 2014.He was born March 10, 1927 in Stuttgart, Germany and moved to the United States in 1928 where he has been a resident of North Ridgeville, Elyria and Grafton. After attending North Ridgeville High School, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1945, during World War II.Walter married Marjorie May Porter September 25, 1948 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Elyria. He was the former co-owner of Keith Traut Builders and then for 30 years, was employed as a construction superintendent at A.M. Higley Builders, retiring in 1989.Walter has been a life member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, serving on the vestry for many years. His hobbies included roller skating, flying radio control airplanes, collecting LGB Trains and enjoying time on his farm with his family and dogs. Walter is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie, daughter Colleen (Jim) Everhart of Elyria; son Carl (Renee) Keith of Grafton; grandchildren Kristen (Craig) Peterson, Karla (Scott) Wood, Keith Everhart and Brianna Keith; great grandson Camden Peterson and sisters Ruth Exstrom and Betty (William) Troyer, both of Elyria.He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Freda Keith and a sister Doris M. French.Friends will be received Monday, October 13, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. Friends will also be received Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of an 11:00 a.m. service at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 360 Princeton Ave., Elyria with Reverend Paul E. Jaster officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria where Elyria V.F.W. #1079 will conduct military honors.
