Walter Powell, 84, of Elyria, died November 29, 2021 at Wesleyan Village. He was born November 14, 1937 in Greenville, AL. He retired as a crane operator from Elyria Foundry and was a member of Second Baptist Church. Walter enjoyed playing and watching sports, playing cards and spending time with his great-grandchildren. He was known for being a jokester and loved being around people. Walter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice (nee McCall); 10 children; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; numerous siblings; and an extended host of other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Leona (nee Crenshaw) Powell and a brother, Dempsey Powell. Friends will be received Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 3:00 pm until the time of a 3:30 pm memorial service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria.
