Warren A. WickesWarren A. Wickes passed away peacefully July 25, 2018.Born March 6, 1922, Warren graduated from Hempstead (NY) High School and from Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering. He served in the US Army during World War II, and was stationed in the Philippines and Japan during the Occupation.He married Jeannette Tremelin of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio in 1946 and they had twin girls, Cynthia and Diana, in 1948. Warren and his family lived in Hudson, Ohio for nearly 50 years, while he worked as an electrical engineer at the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company. He was an active member of the Hudson Players, Hudson Heritage Association, and IEEE. A kind and gentle man, he enjoyed singing old songs and playing bridge at the Kendal at Oberlin retirement community where he and Jeannette lived since 1998. Jeannette died in 2000 of Parkinson’s disease, and Warren remarried Donna Vick of Louisville KY several years later. She died in 2009. Warren is survived by his daughters, Cynthia McCoy and Diana Roose; four grandchildren and three great-grandsons. Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Warren Wickes are invited to Kendal at Oberlin for a memorial service Sunday, September 2, 2018 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 162 S Main Street, Oberlin 44074 or the Friends Committee on National Legislation, 245 Second St. NE, Washington DC 20002.
