William Abahazi Obituary
William F. Bill Abahazi, 82, of Grafton, died July 25, 2016 in his home.He was born June 13, 1934 in Elyria and was a 1952 graduate of Elyria High School. From 1957 to 1959, Bill served with the U.S. Army stationed in Germany and then four years in the Army Reserves. He was employed from 1953 until retiring in 1996 at York International (formerly Luxaire) and had been president of Luxaire Credit Union. For eighteen years, he worked as a truck mechanic at Heinels Greenhouse, Elyria and also for eight years was a greeter at Elyria Walmart. He had been a lifetime member of Magyar United Church of Christ, now Community of Faith UCC and Elyria AmVets # 32.Bill was a former Boy Scout and in 1950 attended the Boy Scout National Jamboree in Gettysburg, PA as well as Philmont Scout Ranch Cimarron, NM. He had been a Cub Scout leader and enjoyed traveling, fishing, golf and attending the events of his grandchildren.Bill is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Wallis Wally (nee Grieve); children, Jeff (Tammy) Abahazi of Grafton, Brad (Barb) Abahazi of Elyria, Lori (Ron Rooy) Abahazi and Chris (Holly) Abahazi, both of Grafton; grandchildren, Chad, Bradley B.J. (Lauren), Joshua (Jen), Zachary, Cassandra, Matthew, Nicholas, Jacob and Taylor; great grandchildren, Landon and Kaysen; brother, Edward (Barbara) Abahazi of Elyria and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sarah Abahazi.Friends will be received Friday July 29, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A memorial service will be Saturday July 30, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Community of Faith UCC, 9715 East River Road, Elyria with Reverend Kathryn Ketchum officiating. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Community of Faith UCC or a charity of choice.
