William Troyer Obituary
William E. Troyer, 82, of Elyria, larger than life, loved and respected by many, passed away unexpectedly December 12, 2022. He was born December 28, 1939, to Daniel and Fannie Troyer in Plain City, OH and was a 1957 graduate of Mt. Gilead High School. Bill moved to Elyria with his wife in 1961 and was employed at LaGrange Screw Products and has been employed for the past 45 years at Ohio Screw Products. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing cards and jokers. Opa/Uncle Bill loved to watch all the children at their sporting events, and he was the one the little ones ran to first. In addition to playing softball, he was a long time umpire for girls high school softball as well as city league softball. Bill was a District 4 softball commissioner, officer of the Elyria softball umpires association and was a “do-everything” for the city of Elyria Parks and Recreation Department. He also enjoyed decorating his yard for all the holidays with blow-ups, and working in his fish pond. Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty “Butchie” (nee Keith); daughters, Diane (Tom) Price and Denise (Gary) D’Andrea, both of Amherst; grandchildren, Joseph, Brian and Amanda D’Andrea, Jenn (Stephan) Layport and Thomas (Ivy) Price; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Dylan, MaeLyn, EvaLyn and HarLyn; brothers, Floyd (Debbie), Philip (Cathy) and Roger (Ingrid) Troyer; sisters, Edna Klenz and Sharon (Clyde) Perry; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John, David and Richard Troyer. Friends will be received Friday, December 16, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A service will be Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 9:30 am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 360 Princeton Avenue, Elyria with Reverend Tim Scholl officiating. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
