William A. Long's Obituary
William A. Long, 72, of Ashland and formerly of Elyria, died Saturday, May 2, 2026. He was born November 16, 1953 in Lorain, was a 1972 graduate of Vermilion High School and a 1976 graduate of The Ohio State University. Bill had worked for various insurance agencies before starting The Long Group, LTD in 1982 and continuing until his retirement in 2022. He was a member of National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Lorain County Traffic Safety Task Force and National Association of Life Underwriters. He served on local and state boards and was a Junior Achievement Advisor. Bill was a former member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Elyria and Jaycees. He was active in the community, volunteered with the Second Harvest Food Bank and was a proud blood and platelet donor for over a decade. Bill enjoyed golf, collecting electric trains, being outside and doing yardwork, attending sporting events, baking homemade recipes and listening to classic rock music.
Bill is survived by children, Kyle M. Long of Ashland, Jodi N. (David) Reichlin of Hinckley and Kelsi M. Long of Ashland; grandchildren, Leighton, Kadence, Kerrigan and Jaxton; brother, Richard T. (Marlene) Long of Huron and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Wendy (nee Sommer) in 2017 and parents, Thomas and Martha Long.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
