I know this is late, but I just discovered this tragic event. I'm terribly saddened. Brian was one of the best friends I've ever had in my life. I always thought we'd find each other again some day to catch up. Condolences to the family. And to myself.

I worked with Brian for past several years and was able to learn a lot from him. He taught many things while working in SMU. We eventually became good friends and hung out at the Eagles from time to time. I hope to see him again one day. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Heathcote family. Brian, you are missed but never forgotten!
