Helen Lengel (nee Dohanos), 90, of Elyria, died June 18, 2013 at The Abbewood.She was born July 16, 1922 in Lorain and has been a resident of Elyria since 1939. Helen was employed as a cafeteria worker in the Elyria City Schools for 19 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Magyar United Church of Christ and the Dorcas Guild of the church. She was a former treasurer at Little League South and enjoyed watching sports, working with clay, painting, crocheting, quilting, gardening and spending time with her great grandchildren.Helen is survived by sons Steve L. (Gayle) Lengel and Ken W. (Lynn) Lengel, both of Elyria; grandsons Raymond (Elizabeth) Lengel and Jonathan (Theresa) Lengel; great grandchildren Luke, Anna, Sam, Hannah, Olivia and Callie and a sister Ethel Bickley of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Steve Lengel, Jr. in 2006; brothers Frank and Albert Dohanos; sister Grace Napier and parents Frank and Helen Dohanos. Friends will be received Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. A memorial service will be Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Magyar United Church of Christ, 6119 West River Road, South, Elyria. Reverend Robert Gross will officiate. Burial for the family will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Magyar United Church of Christ.
