The phone call that Sunday afternoon regarding Steve left me stunned. Memories flooded in. Just a few years ago, Steve and I had visited Collettsville, NC, where his dad grew up. The old home place location, the school, and cemetery where many of our family are laid to rest. It was a beautiful day. Remembering people was important to Steve. Showing respect was a must. A true Man of Honor. Another quality he had was knowing the importance of being forgiving. Steve had plenty chances to be bitter about past occurrences in life, yet he chose to forgive. That always impressed me. He also had a great smile. Loved to laugh. I called him my Yankee Cousin because of the OH accent. I'm sure my hillbilly accent made him chuckle, too. Karen, my dear- I am so sorry. I loved that man. He will not be forgotten. Kind regards from the Southern homestead.
