Stephen A. McCall, 69, of Avon, sadly passed away May 7, 2023. Beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He was born January 26, 1954 in Cleveland, OH and was a 1973 graduate of James F. Rhodes High School, Cleveland. From 1973-1977, he served honorably in the US Air Force. During and after service, Steve filled his resume with a variety of jobs. He then worked for 25 years as a respiratory therapist at the Louis Stokes VA Hospital, Cleveland before retiring in 2019. Steve enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and spending time with family. He was always willing to share his smile and tell you how proud he was of his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Steve is survived by his wife, Karen McCall; daughters, Christine McCall and Megan Doan (Kevin); sons Matthew McCall (Emily), Michael Rewak, and Christopher Rewak (Lisa); grandchildren Olivia, Caleb, Kathy, and was expecting another grandchild in November 2023; sisters, Renee Hartley and Vickie Tanner (Gayle), and brothers Ron Hartley (Nancy), Roger Hartley (Dawn), and Rex Briggs; many nieces and nephews including Kyle (Julia), Brennan, and Devin Hartley, Charlotte, Evelyn, Danielle, Robert, Taft, Jared, Genny, Andrew, and Vaughn. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Hartley; brother, Michael McCall; and father, Leonard McCall. Steve’s family will receive friends Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A service will be Friday, May 12, 2023 at 11:00 am at Washington Avenue Christian Church, 301 Washington Avenue, Elyria with Reverend Nathan A. Russell officiating. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cleveland USO, 20637 Emerald Pkwy, Cleveland, OH 44135 or a charity of choice.
